- Add onion, garlic & curry leaves. Saute till light brown.
- Add bitter melon, salt & turmeric powder. Cover & fry on a med. flame - till soft.
- Then add red chili powder. Give it a stir.
- Add sugar and continue to fry further for a minute more.
- Serve with hot steamed rice and with some ghee drizzled over it.
Frankly speaking after so many years I tasted again this bitter gourd. I don't know for some reason I. Result: The taste of this, kakarakaya vepudu / karela / bitter-gourd fry, is not at all bitter, its perfectly spicy and yummy. As this is not a wet gravy , this goes well mostly with any rice.
